Practical notes
- Six days is ideal for a coast-and-city journey: two restful Atlantic bases and Marrakech, linked by short, scenic transfers rather than long road days.
- The Atlantic coast stays noticeably cooler and breezier than the interior — a welcome contrast in the hot months of July and August when Marrakech is at its warmest, so we usually keep the inland city day light and shaded.
- Spring and autumn are loveliest on this route; the lagoon birdlife at Oualidia is richest in the cooler months. Drive times are approximate and we pad them for stops.
- The whole journey is private and chauffeured throughout — no shared groups at any point.
Frequently asked
Is this Morocco itinerary good if we don't want the desert?
Yes — this route is built entirely around the Atlantic coast and Marrakech, with no long desert crossing. It suits travellers who prefer sea air, seafood and easy days, or who are short on time, while still experiencing the colour and craft of Marrakech.
Why include Oualidia as well as Essaouira?
They are quite different. Oualidia is a small, sheltered lagoon village known for its oysters, calm water and birdlife — restful and low-key. Essaouira is a lively fortified port with a walled medina, a working fishing harbour and Atlantic ramparts. Pairing the two gives both quiet and character before the energy of Marrakech.
Is six days enough for the coast and Marrakech?
Comfortably. Six days allows two unhurried nights on the coast split between Oualidia and Essaouira, plus Marrakech, all linked by short scenic transfers. If you would also like the High Atlas or the Sahara, we would suggest extending to eight or ten days.
