  1. 1

    Day 1

Arrive Marrakech · palace riad & the medina at dusk

A private airport welcome and a chauffeured transfer to a 5-star palace riad inside the medina — a courtyard, a plunge pool and faultless service. After mint tea and time to settle, an early-evening private walk to the edge of the Jemaa el-Fna as the food stalls light up, then a candlelit rooftop dinner above the old city.

A long courtyard lunch, an afternoon traditional hammam and argan-oil ritual at the riad, and a quiet dinner of pastilla and slow-cooked tagine.

Into the High Atlas · a luxury mountain lodge

A short, scenic chauffeured climb out of the city into the High Atlas — roughly an hour to an hour and a half to the Ourika, Ouirgane or Asni–Imlil foothills, depending on your lodge. The air cools and clears as you rise into Berber country. Settle into a serene mountain lodge with a spa, then a gentle guided walk with a local guide through a Berber village and its walnut groves and terraced fields, and a farm-to-table dinner of garden-grown produce as the peaks turn pink at dusk.

Good to know

Practical notes

  • Four days is ideal for a short city-and-mountain break: two nights in Marrakech and one at a High Atlas lodge, linked by a single short, scenic transfer of about an hour to an hour and a half rather than long road days.
  • The High Atlas stays noticeably cooler and fresher than the city — a welcome contrast in the hot months, and beautifully crisp in spring and autumn. Bring a light layer for the mountain evening; winters in the high foothills can be cold and the peaks snow-capped.
  • This route deliberately leaves out the Sahara and the coast — it is a focused city-plus-mountain escape. If you would also like the desert or the Atlantic, we would suggest extending to six or seven days.
  • The whole journey is private and chauffeured throughout, with a private guide in Marrakech and a local walking guide in the mountains — no shared groups at any point. Drive times are approximate and we pad them for stops.

Frequently asked

Is four days enough for Marrakech and the High Atlas?

Comfortably, for a focused short break. Four days gives you two unhurried nights in Marrakech — the medina, the gardens and a hammam — and a night at a luxury mountain lodge with a guided Berber-village walk, linked by just one short scenic transfer. If you would like more time in the mountains, or to add the Sahara or the coast, we can extend it to six or seven days.

How far is the High Atlas from Marrakech?

Close — the foothill valleys of the Ourika, Ouirgane and Asni–Imlil are only about an hour to an hour and a half by car from the city, climbing steadily into Berber country. That short transfer is part of the appeal: you can swap the colour and bustle of Marrakech for cool, clear mountain air the same morning.

How private is this short break?

Entirely private. From the airport welcome to the final transfer it is just your party with a dedicated chauffeur-guide and vehicle, a hand-picked palace riad and mountain lodge, a private guide in Marrakech and a local walking guide in the Atlas. Every day is fully adjustable to your interests and pace.
