Overview

A relaxed Atlantic honeymoon for two: the fortified port of Essaouira and the tranquil oyster lagoon of Oualidia, with sea-view riads, fresh seafood, long beaches and slow, private days.

For couples who dream of sea air rather than desert sand, this is the gentlest of honeymoons. You begin with the easy pleasures of Marrakech, then move to the coast: the breezy, blue-shuttered medina of Essaouira, where the Skala ramparts catch the sunset and the fishing port grills the day's catch; and the calm lagoon of Oualidia, famous for its oysters and its long, sheltered beach.

Every stay is a sea-view riad or hotel chosen for romance, every transfer is private and chauffeured, and the days are deliberately unstructured — a horseback ride along the sand, a thalasso spa afternoon, a private boat on the lagoon, or simply a book and the sound of the waves. For couples who prefer sea air, slow days and cooler temperatures, absolutely. The Atlantic coast is breezy and relaxed year-round, the seafood is superb, and the pace is gentler than an inland desert circuit. It also combines beautifully with a few nights in Marrakech if you want both.
