Overview

Four fully private days to Erg Chigaga — the wildest dunes in Morocco, 40km past the last paved road. An exclusive-use solar-powered luxury camp with en-suite tents, private chef and a dune sunset set up for you alone.

Erg Chigaga is the Sahara almost nobody reaches. Where the popular Erg Chebbi sits beside a tarmac road, Chigaga lies a further 40km of off-road piste beyond the last village of M'hamid — a three-hour 4x4 crossing of stone desert and isolated oases with no other vehicle in sight. The silence and the night sky are unmatched anywhere in the country.

For this private journey we reserve an exclusive-use luxury camp: a handful of generous tents with real beds, linen and en-suite bathrooms, a private chef, a covered lounge, and not another guest in sight. We take the scenic route over the High Atlas via the Tizi n'Tichka pass, through the palm-fringed Draa Valley with a night in a Zagora kasbah, then off the tarmac into the deep dunes for two nights.

Every sunset is staged for you — a dune-crest table, lanterns, chilled mint tea — and every evening ends with a private fire and gentle gnaoua music. It is the desert at its most exclusive, and it tailors perfectly into a honeymoon or a milestone celebration.

Frequently asked

Questions about this tour.

Is "Private Sahara Luxury Camp — Erg Chigaga" private or a group tour?

100% private. Just you and the people you book with — your own driver, vehicle and pace from start to finish. We never pool travellers.

Can I change the dates or itinerary?

Yes. Every itinerary is a starting point. Add a day, swap a riad, change the start city — we'll re-quote in 24 hours and lock the price in writing before any deposit.

How fit do I need to be?

Easy. Light walking on medina cobblestones, plus optional activities you can opt in or out of on the day.

When should I book?

For high season (Oct–Apr) and any trip involving the Sahara or hot-air balloon, book 8–12 weeks ahead. Last-minute (under 14 days) is usually still possible with a phone call.

What makes the camp 'exclusive-use'?

We reserve the entire camp for your party alone — no other guests. You have the lounge, the chef, the fire and the dunes to yourselves, which is exactly what makes Chigaga special for honeymoons and private celebrations.

How does Erg Chigaga differ from Erg Chebbi at Merzouga?

Erg Chebbi sits beside a tarmac road and draws crowds. Chigaga is 40km of off-road piste beyond the last village — far wilder, far quieter, with 200m dunes and a night sky untouched by any town light. For a private luxury experience, Chigaga is the better choice.
