Couple questions: Food and romance
What is a rooftop dinner in Marrakech like?
It is a candlelit table on a terrace above the medina, often set for your party alone. You eat as the light goes, with the call to prayer carrying across the roofs and, on clear evenings, the Atlas behind the city. Tagine, pastilla and mint tea are the usual menu.

The short answer

In more detail
Our dining guide describes the rooftop dinner as a quiet art in Marrakech, Fes and Tangier. The better riads and hotels lay these tables for their own guests, which keeps the evening private.
Timing matters. A drink at sunset before dinner makes the most of the hour, and in Marrakech the snowline of the Atlas can turn pink at dusk. In Tangier, a roof can look across the strait to Spain.

If you would rather eat out, the city also has small riad restaurants and rooftop kitchens that take reservations. We book these for you and can ask for a quiet corner table.
A rooftop dinner fits the rest of a Marrakech stay. Our honeymoon route puts a private medina tour, a hammam for two and a rooftop dinner into the first two or three nights, before the drive over the Atlas.

Good to know
- Ask for the table to be set before sunset, not after, to catch the light.
- Bring a warm layer for winter evenings on the roof.
- A rooftop dinner can be one of the romantic touches we confirm with your riad in advance.
