Couple questions: Couples practical
Can you get a female guide in Morocco?
Yes. Licensed female guides work in Marrakech, Fes, Meknes and the Atlas villages, and increasingly in smaller towns. A woman guide can bring you into spaces a male guide sometimes cannot, such as a henna artist's workshop, a women's hammam or a family kitchen, and gives a different, more intimate view of daily life. Ask for one when you plan your trip.

In more detail
For couples, a female guide is often a good choice for a medina day or a cooking lesson, particularly if either of you wants to see women-led crafts and kitchens. The two of you still travel together; the guide simply opens different doors.
Women travelling in Morocco can expect some verbal attention in busy medinas. A guide of either gender reduces it greatly, and a female guide adds companionship and context as well as a natural social buffer.

Licensed guides of any gender know the medina well and are recognised there, which is one of the simplest ways to avoid touts and unofficial guides.

Good to know
- Request a female guide when you enquire.
- Combine her with a women-led cooking class or artisan visit.
- Always use licensed guides, whoever you choose.
- Ask for her by name if you enjoy the first day together.
- Tell us any places or crafts you especially want to see.
