Couple questions: Couples practical
Can you kiss in public in Morocco?
It is best not to. Public displays of affection are best kept discreet in Morocco, even on a honeymoon, and kissing in the street, the souks or near mosques is likely to cause discomfort. Keep it for private spaces: your riad, its roof terrace, your room at a desert camp. Couples are entirely at ease behind those walls.

In more detail
Morocco is a Muslim country with a genuine sense of modesty. Visitors are not expected to behave like locals, but open affection in public is uncommon, and it can attract unwanted attention. A little restraint is a courtesy that costs nothing.
The rule of thumb is simple. Holding hands in tourist areas is fine. Anything more intimate belongs indoors or somewhere private. That applies more strongly in villages, residential lanes and near religious sites, which are more conservative than the busy tourist streets.

For same-sex couples the situation is different and more serious. Same-sex relationships are criminalised under Moroccan law, and public affection between same-sex couples can attract unwanted attention or legal risk. Read our answer on LGBTQ+ travel before you plan.

Good to know
- Use your riad's terrace or courtyard for private moments.
- Be extra discreet during Ramadan, when modesty matters more.
- Book private dinners and experiences if you want time alone together.
