Couple questions: Honeymoon planning
How many days do you need for a Morocco honeymoon?
Seven to ten nights is the right length for most couples. Seven lets you pair Marrakech with either the Sahara or the coast and mountains without the days turning into driving. Ten adds a second base and a day of doing nothing. Five nights works only if you keep to one city and one escape.

The short answer
Seven to ten nights is the right length for most couples. Seven lets you pair Marrakech with either the Sahara or the coast and mountains without the days turning into driving. Ten adds a second base and a day of doing nothing. Five nights works only if you keep to one city and one escape.

In more detail
Our planning guide puts it plainly: less than a week and the driving starts to eat the days you came for. Our 7-day honeymoon itinerary pairs a palace riad in Marrakech with two nights in the High Atlas and a finish in Essaouira. If you also want the Sahara, our itinerary notes say a 10-day trip is the better fit.
The 10-day shape is the one we return to most. It opens in Marrakech, crosses the Atlas to a kasbah among the palms of Skoura, runs through the Rose Valley and the Dadès, spends two nights at a Sahara camp, and ends with two slow days on the Atlantic at Essaouira.

Two weeks suits couples who also want Fes or the southern oases. What we steer couples away from is trying to see everything: one city, one desert night and one place by the sea, done well, is a better honeymoon than six stops done quickly.

Good to know
- 5 nights: Marrakech plus the Sahara, or Marrakech plus the coast.
- 7 nights: Marrakech, the Atlas and Essaouira.
- 10 nights: Marrakech, the kasbah road, two desert nights and the coast.
- 14 nights: add Fes or the southern oases.
