Couple questions: Couples practical
Do you need travel insurance for a Morocco honeymoon?
Morocco does not require proof of travel insurance at the border, but you should always have it. Choose a policy that covers medical treatment, medical evacuation and trip cancellation. The best private hospitals are in Casablanca and Marrakech, and evacuation from the Atlas or the Sahara is expensive without cover. Declare any pre-existing conditions.

The short answer
Morocco does not require proof of travel insurance at the border, but you should always have it. Choose a policy that covers medical treatment, medical evacuation and trip cancellation. The best private hospitals are in Casablanca and Marrakech, and evacuation from the Atlas or the Sahara is expensive without cover. Declare any pre-existing conditions.

In more detail
Cancellation and curtailment cover protects the pre-paid value of a honeymoon: riads, a desert camp and private guiding. Atlas passes can close with snow and flights can be disrupted, and the right policy turns those from costly problems into minor ones.
Read the exclusions. Many standard policies exclude trekking above a set altitude, quad biking and some water sports. If your trip includes any of these, check the wording or buy specialist cover.

Buy the policy before you travel, not after you land. Keep your policy number and emergency line on your phone, contact the insurer before committing to treatment where possible, and get a police report for any theft, as almost every insurer requires one.

Good to know
- Make sure medical evacuation is included.
- Check single-item limits for cameras, phones and jewellery.
- Buy cover as soon as you book the trip.
- Declare any pre-existing conditions when you buy the policy.
