Couple questions: Romantic places
Riad or private villa for a Morocco honeymoon?
Choose a riad when the medina is the point: you wake inside the old town and walk to the sights. Choose a private villa when you want space, a large private pool and seclusion, usually in the Palmeraie or the countryside, with a driver for trips into town. For two people, a riad is the more usual choice.

The short answer
Choose a riad when the medina is the point: you wake inside the old town and walk to the sights. Choose a private villa when you want space, a large private pool and seclusion, usually in the Palmeraie or the countryside, with a driver for trips into town. For two people, a riad is the more usual choice.

In more detail
A riad sits inside the medina walls, built around an interior courtyard. It is intimate, atmospheric and walkable, with the craftsmanship and personal service of a small restored house. Most have a small plunge pool rather than one to swim in.
A villa is a free-standing house outside the medina, with its own garden, a private pool and often a cook and staff. Our comparison notes say it suits families, groups and celebrations best. For a couple it can still be lovely, particularly in the warmer months when a real pool makes a difference, but you will need a car to reach the souks.

Many couples do both: a few nights in a medina riad for the energy of the old town, then a move out to a palm-grove villa or resort for quiet days by the water. If you choose a villa, we arrange the transfers and a driver for trips into the medina, so reaching the city stays easy. If you choose a riad, ask for a suite away from the courtyard if you want the most privacy.
