Couple questions: Couples practical
Is Morocco safe for couples?
Yes. Morocco is broadly safe and welcoming to couples, and discretion in riads and desert camps is the norm. Physical crime against visitors is rare; the everyday friction is social, such as persistent touts and the confusion of a large medina. Keep public affection modest, dress with some modesty in the medinas, and check your own government's travel advice before you go.

The short answer

In more detail
The approaches worth knowing about are social, not violent: a friendly stranger who walks you to your riad and then asks for money, a shopkeeper who shows you a rooftop view and then presses you to buy, or a landmark declared closed until a fee appears. They rely on politeness. A firm, friendly no and a purposeful walk deal with most of them.
Travelling privately removes much of this. A licensed driver-guide, a riad with staff around the clock and arranged transfers mean no taxi haggling, no false guides and no wandering lost at night. Couples are entirely at ease behind the courtyard walls, in the dunes and along the coast.

The 2023 earthquake affected parts of the High Atlas. Most areas have been rebuilt and welcome visitors again, but it is worth confirming access to specific places in advance. For remote border regions, follow official advisories; they sit well away from the usual honeymoon routes.

Good to know
- Read your own government's travel advice for Morocco before booking.
- Use arranged transport after dark rather than walking unlit back lanes.
- Keep your riad's address and phone number on your phone.
