Couple questions: Food and romance
What should you wear to a romantic dinner in Morocco?
Smart and modest works everywhere. In the medina, covering shoulders and knees is appreciated for men and women, and light linen with a scarf manages it well. Hotels and riads are more relaxed. For dinner outside in the desert or on a roof, add a warm layer, because nights get cold.

The short answer

In more detail
Morocco is a Muslim country with a relaxed but real sense of modesty. You can dress up for a palace hotel dinner, but walking there through the medina is where cover matters most.
The desert is the place people underdress. At Merzouga in October you might wear shorts at 2pm and a down jacket by 8pm. Between November and February, camp nights often fall to 3 to 8°C.

Our etiquette guide also asks couples to keep public displays of affection discreet, even on a honeymoon. Inside your riad or at a private table, the evening is your own.
For a couples' hammam before dinner, nothing special is needed. The spa provides robes, towels and slippers, and you keep underwear or swimwear on. Allow time to rest and drink water before you dress for the evening.

Good to know
- Pack sandals for the tent. Shoes fill with sand.
- Bring a wrap or scarf for rooftop evenings.
- Choose flat shoes for medina lanes after dark.
