Couple questions: Weddings and celebrations
What is the best time of year for a wedding in Morocco?
Spring, roughly March to May, and autumn, roughly October to November, are ideal, especially for an inland wedding in Marrakech, a kasbah or the Agafay. Days are comfortable, evenings are balmy enough for a courtyard or desert dinner, gardens are at their best and the light flatters photographs. These are the most popular dates, which is the best reason to book early.

The short answer

Days are comfortable, evenings are balmy enough for a courtyard or desert dinner, gardens are at their best and the light flatters photographs. In more detail
High summer is best avoided inland. Marrakech, a kasbah courtyard or the desert can be punishingly hot from June to August, which is hard on guests in formal dress and harder still on an outdoor feast. If a summer date is fixed, the coast at Essaouira is the natural choice.
Winter has its own quiet appeal, with mild, sunny days in Marrakech and clear, starry desert nights. But desert and Atlas evenings turn genuinely cold, so a winter celebration needs fire pits, heaters, blankets and a warm indoor space.

Whatever the season, evenings are cooler than days across most of the country. Plan an outdoor celebration around the night air, and tell guests to bring a layer.

Good to know
- Check religious holidays such as Ramadan for your year; dates move with the lunar calendar.
- Choose the coast for a summer wedding.
- Have a warm plan for any evening outdoors, in any month.
