Couple questions: Weddings and celebrations
How far ahead should you plan a wedding in Morocco?
Generously: often a year or more for a larger celebration. The finest riads, palaces and desert camps, and the best photographers and negaffas, are reserved far in advance, and the prime spring and autumn dates fill first. A smaller elopement or vow renewal can come together faster, but the earlier you start, the more choice you have.

The short answer
Generously: often a year or more for a larger celebration. The finest riads, palaces and desert camps, and the best photographers and negaffas, are reserved far in advance, and the prime spring and autumn dates fill first. A smaller elopement or vow renewal can come together faster, but the earlier you start, the more choice you have.

In more detail
The order matters. Fix the legal marriage at home and its date, then choose the setting and season in Morocco, then bring in your planner, who secures the setting and the key suppliers, and the rest of the plan builds from there.
Early planning also lets you design the days around the wedding properly: a welcome dinner, a henna night, hammam and spa time, a guided medina walk and excursions for guests who arrive early or stay on. Done late, those days tend to shrink to a single event.

Give guests plenty of notice too. They need to arrange flights, check their own passport and visa rules, and buy travel insurance. A save-the-date sent early makes everything easier.

Good to know
- Spring and autumn dates go first; if you want one, start soonest.
- Send save-the-dates as soon as the venue is confirmed.
- Remind guests to check their own entry rules and insurance.
