Couple questions: Honeymoon planning
Can we take the train between cities on a Morocco honeymoon?
On the northern corridor, yes. The Al Boraq high-speed line links Tangier and Casablanca in about two hours, and the national rail network continues to Rabat, Fes and Marrakech. Off that corridor, in Chefchaouen, the High Atlas, Ouarzazate and the Sahara, there is no train, and a private driver is the practical way to travel.

The short answer
On the northern corridor, yes. The Al Boraq high-speed line links Tangier and Casablanca in about two hours, and the national rail network continues to Rabat, Fes and Marrakech. Off that corridor, in Chefchaouen, the High Atlas, Ouarzazate and the Sahara, there is no train, and a private driver is the practical way to travel.

In more detail
Our getting-around guide treats the train as a useful piece rather than the whole trip. Al Boraq runs Tangier to Casablanca in about two hours, and Rabat to Tangier in under two. From Casablanca, intercity trains reach Marrakech in about 3 to 3.5 hours.
The train makes most sense on a northern route, such as Tangier to Rabat or Casablanca, or as one leg between Fes and Marrakech. You still need a car at each end, because the Marrakech and Fes medinas are partly car-free and stations are outside the old towns.

For the rest of a honeymoon the roads matter more. The routes over the Atlas to the desert, the gorges and the coast have no rail line. A private chauffeur-guide also carries the luggage, stops where you want, and walks you to the riad door.

Good to know
- If you take the train, book a pickup at the arrival station so you are not looking for a taxi with your cases.
