Couple questions: Romantic places
Is the Todra gorge worth it on a honeymoon?
Yes, as a stop on the road to the Sahara. The Todra gorge, near Tinghir, narrows to a few metres between limestone walls up to around 300 metres high, with a flat path along the river. It lies on the route from Ouarzazate to Merzouga, so it costs little extra time. Late afternoon, when the walls glow, is the best hour.

The short answer
Yes, as a stop on the road to the Sahara. The Todra gorge, near Tinghir, narrows to a few metres between limestone walls up to around 300 metres high, with a flat path along the river. It lies on the route from Ouarzazate to Merzouga, so it costs little extra time. Late afternoon, when the walls glow, is the best hour.

In more detail
Our notes describe the narrows as accessible to walkers of any ability: a flat road and footpath follow the riverbed between the cliffs, and the clear, shallow Todra keeps the gorge cool even in summer. As the day fades, the walls turn ochre and rose before falling into shadow, and the hush is broken only by the river.
Below the gorge, a long ribbon of palm groves follows the river through Tinghir, with paths through irrigated gardens and mud-brick villages. Guided walks lead up towards the village of Tizgui for views back over the canyon, and women's co-operatives show how the region's Berber rugs are woven.

The gorge pairs with the Dades valley on the classic kasbah road east. Spring and autumn are the most pleasant; summer is hot but the shaded gorge helps, and winter days are crisp and cold after dark. Ouarzazate to Merzouga is about 5 hours of driving, and the Todra makes a natural midway break.
