Couple questions: Romantic places
What is the best beach for a Morocco honeymoon?
For a calm, refined stay, the Oualidia lagoon, with swimmable water and a handful of boutique hotels. For an easy swimming beach and sun, Agadir's sheltered bay. For character and sea air, Essaouira, though it is windy. For total seclusion, Dakhla. Remember the Atlantic is cool, around 17 to 22°C, even in summer.

The short answer
For a calm, refined stay, the Oualidia lagoon, with swimmable water and a handful of boutique hotels. For an easy swimming beach and sun, Agadir's sheltered bay. For character and sea air, Essaouira, though it is windy. For total seclusion, Dakhla. Remember the Atlantic is cool, around 17 to 22°C, even in summer.

In more detail
Our beach guide calls Oualidia, about three hours north of Essaouira, the most genteel beach escape in Morocco: a serene tidal lagoon known for oysters, with intimate hotels overlooking calm water. Agadir's beach is about 10 km of sheltered sand with lifeguards in season and the region's safest swimming.
Essaouira's beach is broad and beautiful, but the trade wind and Atlantic power make it better for walking and wind sports than for long swims. Sidi Kaouki, south of Essaouira, is wild and nearly empty. In the far south, Dakhla's lagoon is the most secluded coastal hideaway of all.

Water temperature is the surprise for many couples. The Canary Current keeps the Atlantic cool, peaking around 20 to 22°C in summer. The Mediterranean beaches near Al Hoceima and Saidia run warmer, reaching about 25 to 26°C in August, but they fit a northern route rather than a Marrakech one.
