Couple questions: Romantic places
Is Essaouira good for a honeymoon?
Yes, as the slow end of a trip. Essaouira is a breezy Atlantic port town with 18th-century ramparts, a small walkable medina and the freshest seafood in Morocco, about two and a half to three hours west of Marrakech. Stay at least one night: the ramparts at dusk and dawn, after the day visitors leave, are the best hours.

In more detail
Our honeymoon itineraries end here because it is where a trip exhales after the city and the desert. Days are for the ramparts, the fishing port, a horseback ride along the long beach and long lunches; evenings for a table above the ocean.
Couples stay in a boutique riad inside the walls or a retreat by the beach just south. The town is breezy year-round, so pack a light layer for the evenings even in summer. That same breeze makes it the obvious honeymoon base in July and August, when inland Morocco is very hot.

On the drive from Marrakech you can stop at a women's argan cooperative to see the oil pressed by hand. Late June brings the Gnaoua music festival, when the town fills, so book well ahead for those dates. A day trip from Marrakech leaves only four or five hours on the coast after the drive, which is why our itineraries give Essaouira one or two nights.
