Couple questions: Honeymoon planning
When is the best time for a Fes and Chefchaouen honeymoon?
Spring and autumn suit both towns best. For Fes, March, April and October stand out, with mild days and the medina gardens in bloom in spring. Chefchaouen is at its best from March to May and in September and October. July and August are very hot in Fes, and winter in both towns brings rain and cold evenings.

The short answer
Spring and autumn suit both towns best. For Fes, March, April and October stand out, with mild days and the medina gardens in bloom in spring. Chefchaouen is at its best from March to May and in September and October. July and August are very hot in Fes, and winter in both towns brings rain and cold evenings.

In more detail
Fes sits inland at around 400 m, so its summers are hotter and its winters colder than the coast. Highs reach 37 to 40°C in July and August, which makes long walks in the medina uncomfortable. March and April run at about 18 to 24°C. December to February is the wettest time, with overcast days and light rain.
The quietest weeks in Fes are November to early December and January to February. January is crisp and calm in the medina, if you bring warm layers for the evenings. In June the Fes Festival of World Sacred Music fills the city, so book well ahead if you want to go.

Chefchaouen is lovely all year, but spring and early autumn give the best mix of mild weather and soft light on the blue lanes. Winter is cold and can be misty, with snow on the Rif around the town. Whatever the month, stay a night rather than visit for the day. Dawn in the empty lanes is the moment most couples remember.

Good to know
- Chefchaouen to Fes is about 3 hours 30 minutes by road, and Tangier to Chefchaouen about 2 hours.
