Couple questions: Romantic places
Is Asilah worth it for couples?
Yes, as a gentle night or two on a northern route. Asilah is a small whitewashed Atlantic town with a mural-covered medina, Portuguese ramparts, a sea gate and a clifftop bastion for sunset. Add a long beach a few kilometres south and fresh fish at the harbour, and it makes a calm pause near Tangier.

The short answer
Yes, as a gentle night or two on a northern route. Asilah is a small whitewashed Atlantic town with a mural-covered medina, Portuguese ramparts, a sea gate and a clifftop bastion for sunset. Add a long beach a few kilometres south and fresh fish at the harbour, and it makes a calm pause near Tangier.

In more detail
Our notes describe Asilah's medina as a maze of lime-washed lanes in blue and white, many walls carrying murals repainted each summer during the arts festival, which has run since 1978. The town is wrapped in stone ramparts built by the Portuguese in the 15th century, and you can follow the walls for views over the rooftops and the ocean.
For couples, the evening is the reason to stay. The Krikia bastion, on the south-west corner of the walls, is a favourite spot to watch the sun go down over the Atlantic. Restaurants near the ramparts and the harbour grill the day's catch, from sardines and sea bream to calamari.

A day or two is enough. Spring and autumn are mild, and summer is livelier, peaking with the festival. Asilah sits on the coast south of Tangier, so it pairs naturally with Tangier, Cap Spartel and Chefchaouen rather than with a Marrakech and Sahara trip.
